Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Eric Kwan, operating as New Wok City Tours, handles information through this website, including customer accounts, tour requests, and Behind the Wok audio-walk access.
Information we receive
- Sign-in and accounts: when you sign in with ChatGPT, we receive an account identifier, email address, and, when available, your name. Creating a New Wok City account saves your chosen name, email, account identifier, and signup date. We do not receive your ChatGPT password or chat history.
- Tour requests: your name, email, selected tour, preferred date, group size, and any notes you submit. Audio-walk interest requests use your name, email, and notes without requiring a tour date.
- Purchase records: when audio checkout is enabled, we keep payment-reference identifiers, the purchased audio product’s price identifier, your account identifier, purchase date, and any access-revocation status. Card details are handled by Stripe, not stored in our website database.
- Technical information: hosting, sign-in, and other service providers may process IP addresses, browser/device information, request logs, and session information to deliver and secure their services.
How we use your information
We use these details to create and support your account, respond to tour requests, plan your visit, send updates you requested about audio-walk availability, verify purchases, provide purchased access, and prevent misuse. Creating an account does not subscribe you to a general marketing newsletter. We do not sell customer information or share it for targeted advertising.
Please limit booking notes to information needed for your visit. Dietary and accessibility details are optional; avoid sending medical records, payment-card details, passwords, or identity documents through the booking form.
Service providers and sharing
The site uses OpenAI’s Sites hosting and ChatGPT sign-in, with Cloudflare infrastructure for website delivery and data storage. These providers process information needed to operate the site. When payments are enabled, Stripe receives your checkout information, including your account email and purchase reference, to process payments and help verify access. We may disclose information when legally required or needed to address fraud, disputes, or security issues.

Maps, location, and external links
The purchased tour map requests your browser’s location only when you choose “Show my location” and allow access. The site displays that location in your browser and does not send it to our customer database or save a location history. Map tiles are requested from OpenStreetMap’s tile service; those requests can reveal your IP address and the map area being viewed. Walking-direction links open Google Maps, which handles information under its own privacy policy. You can use the stop list without sharing your location.
Our embedded video uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player. Loading or interacting with the player can still send technical information to Google/YouTube, and playback may involve cookies or other storage. External services apply their own policies: OpenStreetMap Foundation and Google/YouTube.
Cookies and similar technologies
Sign-in, hosting, and embedded services may use cookies or similar technologies for sessions, security, and their features. We have not added advertising pixels or a separate analytics tracking tool to this website. You can manage cookies through your browser; blocking them may affect sign-in or embedded content.
Retention and security
Account records are kept while needed to provide your account and purchased access. Tour requests are kept as needed for planning, customer support, and related business records. Payment and other records may be retained for tax, accounting, legal, security, and dispute-resolution purposes. We use access controls and limit access to customer records; no online service can guarantee complete security.
Your choices and requests
You can browse without creating a customer account, submit a tour request as a guest, and decline location access. To ask for access to your information, a correction, account deletion, or to stop requested updates, email bookings@newwokcity.com with the subject “New Wok City privacy request.” We may need to verify your identity before acting. Some records may need to be retained for legal obligations, disputes, or ongoing purchased services. Additional rights may apply depending on where you live.
Children
This website’s customer signup and checkout are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian should handle tour requests for children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
Merchandise and policy updates
The Canal Collection is currently coming soon; the site does not yet accept merchandise orders or collect shipping addresses. Before merchandise sales open, this policy will be updated to describe order information and any fulfillment providers. We will update the effective date when this policy changes and provide additional notice where required.
